From Kristin Ford, Christian Education Chair
Our Adult Education classes are one of the many ways we weave faith formation and Christian education into the life of our church and one of the things I always think about when we make our stewardship pledge each fall. Being able to learn and grow in faith together in such rich ways is one of the many things Matt and I love about this church.
And our Sunday school classes for adults really run the gamut, from intersections of theology and politics to church history to art and culture to raising justice-seeking kids. And sometimes our classes are also a great way to dive deeper into a program or ministry of The New York Avenue Presbyterian Church.
So, if you’re part of something hear that’s near and dear to your heart and you think an Adult Education class might be a good way to share and invite others to participate or learn more, let us know! You could bring an expert from your group, a member or participant, or even yourself to our classes on Sunday mornings at 10 a.m.
Our Adult Christian Education program is a great place to connect with members of the congregation in an even more substantive way than through a bulletin announcement or Moment for Mission.
If you’re starting a new ministry or part of a longstanding one, work with an amazing organization, or came across a talented scholar who you think we should hear from, let us know! Just talk to me or Paul Dornan. From there, a member of our committee will be in touch to find our more and schedule the class.
We look forward to broadening the pool of classes we offer and showcasing even more of what’s happening across our congregation and community.
And if you’re interested in joining our small group of Adult Ed Coordinators to plan next year’s classes, we’d love to have you — I can share more info!
